Our Faith and Wesleyan Witness
At Prospect Park United Methodist Church, our faith is rooted in the love of God, the grace of Jesus Christ, and the guiding presence of the Holy Spirit. As part of the United Methodist tradition, we believe that faith is not only something we confess, but something we live through worship, discipleship, service, compassion, and care for our neighbors.
The Trinity
We believe in one God revealed as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is eternal, loving, holy, and present with us in every season of life.
God
We believe God is the Creator and Sustainer of all things. God’s love is greater than our failures, God’s mercy is deeper than our brokenness, and God’s grace calls us into relationship, healing, and new life.
Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ is fully divine and fully human, our Savior and Lord. Through His life, death, and resurrection, we receive forgiveness, salvation, hope, and the promise of new life with God.
The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is God’s active presence with us today. The Spirit comforts, convicts, guides, empowers, and transforms us so that we may live faithfully and follow Jesus more closely.
The Bible
We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and the primary authority for Christian faith and life. Through Scripture, God speaks to us, shapes us, corrects us, encourages us, and leads us into faithful discipleship.
The Church
We believe the Church is the body of Christ, called to make disciples of Jesus Christ, nurture faith, worship God, serve others, and share the hope of the Gospel with the world.
The Sacraments
We recognize Baptism and Holy Communion as sacred means of grace. Through Baptism, we are welcomed into the covenant community of faith. Through Holy Communion, we remember Christ’s sacrifice, receive grace, and are strengthened for faithful living.
Our Wesleyan Heritage
As United Methodists, we believe God’s grace is at work before we recognize it, meets us through Jesus Christ, and continues shaping us throughout life. We seek to live out our faith through Scripture, tradition, reason, and experience, while growing in love of God and neighbor.
Faith That Becomes Love in Action
Whether you are new to faith, returning to church, or seeking a deeper walk with God, there is a place for you here. We invite you to worship, grow, serve, and discover the hope of Christ with us.
