Christians know, all that we are and all that have belongs to God. While on earth, we are merely stewards over things that belong to God. Selfishness, greed, hoarding, materialism, anxiety over money reveal that our trust lies not in things God but in money. In the same way, faithfulness and generosity reveal that our trust is in God.
Giving is a personal way for which everyone, everywhere are now able to give of their tithes & generosity in support of the church continuous mission of severing others. The Gospel of Matthew reminds us of this in Matt: 6:21 "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
John Wesley urges us to “earn all you can and save all you can so that you can give all you can.” He modeled modest living and sacrificial giving. Wesley made sure that those early classes of “Methodists” took weekly offerings to help others in need.
Today, we, as a body of faith, join together to help all of God’s children whenever and wherever we can. As the body of Christ, we experience joy through giving with generous hearts.
